Cowrites

I’ve worked with some exceptional writers and artists over the years - and some genuinely wonderful people.

Here are a few of our tracks.

They are in varying states of undress, written in an array of locations, with different combinations of people and over several years. For a whole host of reasons most co‑writes stay behind closed doors, but regardless these collaborations have stretched me, vexed me, and sometimes nudged me into genres I probably shouldn’t be anywhere near.

But what fun. And what a journey.

And with permission, a quote from the diary of Tony James Shevlin regarding the aftermath of a particular songwriting session and a particular song: "Sugar Free".

"The song went down well. Ian Dench (EMF, Beyonce) said it was ‘hooky as f**k’. Jez Ashurst (OneRepublic, Little Mix) said ‘If I heard that on the radio, it would be one of those songs I’d wished I’d written.’ The three of us were over the moon. Martin (Wardley) couldn’t stop grinning. He and I drank until 3am.”

And from Wayne Gidden that same evening: "this song will change your life"

It didn't of course.

Or did it?

None of them did.

Or did they?
